Babies grow fast, so fewer, better pieces beat a bulging drawer. Here is the short list we dress our own little ones in.
A handful of mix-and-match basics in calm, repeatable colours means everything goes together, even on the bleariest morning.
Start with bodysuits, sleepsuits, ribbed leggings and a couple of soft jumpers, then add one or two special pieces for photos and visits.
Choosing organic cotton in neutral shades also makes hand-me-downs easy — pieces pass between siblings looking barely worn.
